Vector Blessing.

Wow. I’m so chuffed and just have to share this with you.

A while ago now I emailed Howard Scott Warshaw, original author of Yar’s Revenge, and one of the big coding superstars of the early 80s and asked if he could possibly take a look at my remake of Yars (Vector’s Revenge). He finally managed to find the time to take a look and this is his response:

Dear Andrew,

Sorry it took me so long to check this out, but I have to say
that I think it is wonderful! You really got the essence of the game
down and I think you improved the graphics somewhat.

The only question I would have is why the ion zone is done the
way it is when the full screen explosion actually mirrors the original
more closely. But this is a minor nit. I think this is an excellent
job.
You have my blessing for sure.

:)

Many thanks Howard! You are a star!

I guess I better actually get it upto version 1.0 soon then – hopefully my good buddy STompy will manage to complete some cool online scores code he has been working on and we can get a version of this up with a nice competitive online scoreboard.

Finally, if you are interested in what Howard is up to these days, be sure to visit Once Upon Atari.
